Ricki Grossman, founder of Centering Hands, approaches life from a diverse perspective that embraces wellbeing, centeredness, and a creativity she believes we all possess whether or not we allow it to shine. Combining her training and expertise as a yoga teacher, registered nurse, nurse coach, nutritionalist, massage therapist, and master potter, Ricki helps her clients integrate their personal desires for artistic fulfillment, relaxation, health, and inspiration with tools and practices that support you as you come home to a new center within.
Well-schooled in a variety of modalities, Ricki is a Registered Nurse, certified Integrative Nurse Coach, and has certification in asian healing modalities, including a special meridian-based massage therapy. She has a 500 hour yoga teaching certification with many hours of teaching practice and education and it has been a true passion and commitment for many years of her life. To complement her healing work she is a living food specialist and master potter to encourage the artist within to shine forward.
Ricki came to the practice of yoga as a child as she stretched and moved along to her mother’s recording of Richard Hittleman’s, Yoga for Life. “I was hooked by the age of twelve,” says Ricki. “It was only natural when I became an adult to expand my practice.” To that end, Ricki practiced Bikram yoga for ten years and then earned her 200-hour and 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) at Sri Dharma Mittra’s studio in New York.
Interested in healing modalities from all perspectives, Ricki became a Registered Nurse thirty years ago. And has work on medical, surgerical, psychology , and maternity units, serving as a senior staff resource for most of those years. She currently volunteers at the Northport VA Hospital, teaching yoga to the staff.
Ricki has always been drawn to nature and recognizes the vital healing powers of plants. She is currently in the midst of completing her education as an herbalist. Ricki also enjoys playing her harmonium to enhance her personal devotional practice. “I feel all these interests fuse together and enhance my ability to help myself and others. I believe the world needs this more than ever, and it is the responsibility of the elders to teach the young.”
Ricki lives on Long Island with her husband.
